About Us
Down Syndrome Society Nepal (DSSN) was established in September 2010 and has acquired enabling linkage from the Kathmandu District Administrative Office (Registration #145). DSSN has also been affiliated with Social Welfare Council on the same year with its Affiliation number 30601.
DSSN is primarily a membership based organization which aims to strengthen the individual and collective capacity of the Nepalese parents belonging to persons with intellectual disabilities to promote and protect the basic human rights of their children.
Presently, DSSN has more than 150 General members with a seven member executive committee which also coordinates and extends its services to more than 500 families. The prime responsibilities of the executive committee are to formulate and execute the regular activities including the operation of day-to-day administrative functions of the organization.

Objectives:
- To take care and provide education and trainings to the people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
- To initiate various activities by coordinating with other organizations having similar objectives.
- Support to become economically self-reliant by providing appropriate vocational trainings and involve in the production and income generating activities in line with the personal capacity of the children/ adult with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
- Organize and participate in various national and international interaction, seminar and workshops.
- Develop networks and exchange various lobbying and advocating programs along with fund raising events to promote and protect the basic human rights of the people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
